Moses, rescued from the waters

drapeau francais

First and foremost a story of racism and discrimination.

It all began thousands of years ago when the Hebrews arrived in Egypt as migrants in search of a better life. However, as time went on, their numbers increased and they became more and more numerous. This caused the Egyptian authorities to be suspicious and they began to view the Hebrews as a threat to their society.

The Hebrews were subjected to racism and discrimination, forced labor and treatment as slaves. They worked hard in the fields, quarries and workshops, with no regard for their human dignity. Pharaoh also decreed the genocide of all male Hebrew children and that they be thrown into the Nile.

It is in this context that Moses was born. He was saved from the waters after being adopted by the daughter of the Egyptian pharaoh. He grew up in the royal court.

However, one day, Moses witnessed the suffering of his people and was deeply shocked. He then decided to stand up against the injustice and oppression that was happening to the Hebrews.

Moses began to preach freedom and equality for all Hebrews, which brought hope and enthusiasm to the community. However, the Egyptian authorities considered Moses a threat and ordered his arrest. Moses fled into exile, but later returned to lead the fight for his people’s freedom.

With God’s help, Moses led the Hebrews out of Egypt. After a long march through the desert, they would found their own nation.

This story is a story of struggle for justice and freedom. It is a reminder of the fragile lives of migrants seeking a better life ready to cross the waters at the risk of their lives… but even in the darkest moments of history, there is always hope and strength in each of us to fight against oppression and injustice and build a more just and equitable world for all.
